Bring It To The Light

Most of us think confession is only for the "big" sins in our life. However, the Bible paints a different picture.
In 1 John 1:9, we're reminded: "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
Confession isn't just about earning God's forgiveness, it’s also about stepping out of the darkness and into His light.
Sometimes the darkness isn't an obvious sin. It can be the habits we use to numb ourselves, the bitterness we refuse to let go of, anxiety we keep hidden, or the struggles we pretend don't exist. But when we bring those to the light, the power it has over us begins to fade.
Confession is a spiritual discipline because we all need it…again and again and again.
The goal isn't perfection, rather the goal is honesty. Jesus never asked us to pretend we have it all together. He invites us to bring our whole selves to Him and trusting that His grace is greater than our failures.
This Week's Challenge
- Spend a few quiet minutes asking God, "Is there anything I've been hiding?"
- Honestly confess whatever He brings to mind.
- Share that struggle with one trusted Christian who can pray with you.
- Ask, how can I continue to make confession part of my regular rhythm?
