Meeting God in the Wilderness

Sometimes, we meet God in places we never expect.

In 1 Kings 19, Elijah had just experienced an incredible victory, but when trouble came, he became afraid and ran into the wilderness. He was exhausted, discouraged, and ready to give up.

You know what's cool? God didn’t respond by scolding him.

Instead, God allowed Elijah to rest. He provided food and water. He gave him time to recover. Then, when Elijah was ready to listen, God met him!

Elijah had to slow down and become quiet enough to hear it though. 

Maybe you need that reminder today. God understands when we are tired, overwhelmed, or in need of retreat. He meets us where we are, sometimes in ways we don’t expect.

God may be trying to speak to you right now...are you quiet enough to hear Him?
