The Invitation to Slow Down

Published September 9, 2026
Do you intentionally spend time with Jesus?

We live in a world that moves fast!

Our schedules are full, our phones are always within reach, and there always seems to be one more thing that needs our attention.

We see in scripture that, Martha understood this all too well. She was busy serving Jesus, preparing a meal and taking care of everything that needed to be done. But in that moment, Jesus gently reminded her: “You are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed.”

That doesn’t mean the things on your schedule aren’t important. Work matters. Family matters (insert "Did I do that?" Urkel voice....) & responsibilities matter. But in the middle of all the things demanding our attention, Jesus invites us to choose what is better.

Sometimes the most spiritual thing we can do is stop. Stop scrolling. Stop rushing. Stop accomplishing.

Instead, just take a minute to slow down and simply sit with Jesus.

This month, we’re practicing silence and solitude. What would happen if you intentionally spent time with Jesus?
