Next Steps Guide
Be a friend and build real relationships with that person.
This is a 4-week commitment
The why:
How to accomplish this:
We believe every person is uniquely created by God and we believe that each person's journey will be unique as well. Learn about the person you are walking alongside. We encourage you to be in contact with them at least once a week and meet in person one time in the course of the 4 weeks.
Throughout the 4 weeks, if you are attending a event at church invite them to come along with you.
Week 1
First of all, we want them to fall in love with Jesus and get excited about scripture. We have put together videos that tell the story of a couple characters from the bible. Encourage the person you are walking alongside to watch the videos and together you can discuss the questions that relate to the story.
During the first week talk to them about the decision they just made (baptism) and how God redeemed them. Ask them about their story.
Questions:
What did you like about this story?
Did you find anything difficult about this story?
What does this story teach about God?
What does this story teach about people?
Retell the story in your own words.
How will you apply what you’ve learned from this story?
Week 2
Have them watch the how to live it out videos. They can find then at the next step link and the link is provided for you below.
Ask them questions about what they watched. Here are a few examples:
What way to live it out will be the easiest for you?
Which will be the hardest?
What is one step you can take today to start to live it out in your life?
I would encourage you to watch these videos as well and write down thoughts and/or questions that you find in each video.
Week 3
Have a conversation with them to see what their passion is. We believe that every Christ-follower should be on mission.
Faith comes alive when we serve others! Help them find ways to step into action and live like Jesus by joining one of our outfitting opportunities to serve within the church or the community.
What to do next:
Help connect them with an area of ministry that matches their gifts and passions.
Help them dream big for the kingdom of God.
If they are struggling coming up with what their passion/cause is ask them the questions below, this can help steer them in the right direction.
What do you love to do with others?
What are you good at?
How can you use what you love and what you are good at to share Jesus with others?
Can relationships be built through this area of passion?
Week 4
We want them to know that we care deeply about people and that is why we are walking alongside them. Encouraging them to do the same for someone else to start the next step process again with a new believer.
Also, sharing our stories is a big part of our faith walk and we all have an important story to share. Encourage your person to write down their story and be able to share it in 5 minutes or less.
A great place to start is to write down your story by answering these three questions.
Where was I?
Where I’m at now?
Where I’m going?
In 1 Peter 3:15b it says, “and if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it.” You never know when God may want to you use your story to help someone find Jesus.
