*Initial Assessment: Begin by getting to know the individual's current spiritual journey, their relationship with Jesus, and their understanding of discipleship.

*Build Trust: Establish a strong, trusting relationship with the person you're advising. This will create a safe space for them to open up and grow spiritually.

*Understanding Discipleship: Define what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. Explore key biblical passages about discipleship (e.g., Matthew 28:19-20). Discuss the significance of centering one's life on Jesus.

*Set Goals: Work with individuals to set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals for their spiritual growth.

A disciple is someone who continually works to center their life on Jesus, in order to become more like him. They apply what they are learning by prioritizing and developing relationships with God and with others, radically pursuing God’s plan for the redemption of all people, and living a life on mission to expand the kingdom.

Action Points:

  • Reflect on the individual’s spiritual journey as a whole.
  • Evaluate how their progress in each area contributes to their overall growth as a disciple of Jesus.
  • Self-Assessment: Encourage individuals to self-assess their growth in these areas.
  • Feedback from Others: Seek feedback from peers, family members or mentors who may have observed the individual’s progress.
  • Character Development: Focus on developing the fruits of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control) in their daily lives.
  • Model Christlikeness: Lead by example, demonstrating a Christ-centered life through your own actions and attitudes.
  • Training: Equip them to share their faith effectively and engage in conversations about Jesus with others. Storyteller’s Conference
  • Goal Alignment: Compare their current status with the goals they initially set for spiritual growth.
  • Challenges and Obstacles: Explore any challenges or obstacles they’ve encountered in these areas and how they have addressed them.

Action Points:

  • Assess whether their current spiritual practices align with the goals they initially set.
  • Discuss any necessary adjustments to their goals and strategies for achieving them.
  • Celebrate Progress: Celebrate milestones and successes in their discipleship journey.

Remember that evaluation is an ongoing process, and it should be conducted with sensitivity and a non-judgmental attitude.

Its purpose is to support and guide individuals in their spiritual journey and to help them identify areas where they can continue to grow as disciples of Jesus.

The key is to provide ongoing support, guidance, and resources to help them continually center their lives on Jesus and grow as disciples.
